What a year! It's hard not to reflect on this year's milestones. Will began his first year of school in Pre-K with Mrs. Cochran and Ms. Lacey. They were nothing short of amazing! He grew so much socially and academically and I am thrilled with his progress and love of school. By the end of the year, he was one of the highest readers and highest in Math! And when I say Math, please know that in HIS Pre-K class, they were doing perimeter, fractions, Math facts, and graphing daily! Yes, amazing! He can also read and spell very well! He knows the anatomy of the human body, why it looks like the sun moves, and that if x+3=5, then x must be 2! I will brag forever about the two ladies that took on this class of 4 year olds!
Lexi had another great year in school and had my dear friend, Stacy for a teacher! The two are kindred spirits and Stacy truly loved Lexi and let her be her creative, cowgirl self. Mrs. Brown is famous for her lasting relationships with students and a positive and challenging learning environment. She has more energy, ideas, and enthusiasm than any person should have! She's AWESOME and Lexi loves her. This year Lexi won an Academic Achievement award, the Wildcat Kid award, and an award for the most words per minute read aloud in all of 2nd grade (156 words per minute! and there are around 120 kids in 2nd grade!). I'm very proud.
As for me, another year has passed and an opportunity has opened. I will be leaving my team mates (and more importanly, friends) for a new position at the Intermediate campus. Together, we have fought and won many battles for countless students and educational beliefs and it was a truly hard decision to make. We are a perfectly matched team....Jason, the fearless leader, Becky, the matriarch, Trisha, the dependable, Ben, the comic relief and gifted, and Stacy, the energetic and idealistic. However, it was time to move on to another challenge. I will be taking on the new Reading position at the Intermediate campus. A new chapter. After a "wine down" at the local vineyard on Thursday with my buddies, still unsure about this decision.
*I hope there aren't too many mistakes in this as it's almost my bedtime and I've had a couple of glasses of really delicious wine..thanks guys!
